A banana tree is not a true fruit but really a giant herb and the banana is actually its berry. A banana plant produces only one bunch in its life, but that bunch may have up to 400 bananas! Despite its phallic shape, the banana is sterile and no fertilization takes place in the banana flowers. A banana plant grows when one of its shoots is planted. As you sip your coffee this morning and read this enlightening information, you can revel in the fact that you are now a bit wiser. Very interesting indeed. However, couldn't bringing up this info during an awkward silence at a party invite people to make unwanted psychoanalytic assumptions? You go first & report back. ;)
People probably make unwanted psychoanalytical assumptions at everything I say. I will bravely go first and promise to blog the results...now I just need to find a cocktail party (and a babysitter!)
